After Dinner Speaker : Clive James
Clive James was born in Sydney in 1939. After graduating he worked for the Sydney Morning Herald before heading for England in 1962 where he has lived ever since. He is now a well-respected journalist, poet, novelist and reviewer. In the 70's he was the television critic for The Observer. He then hosted an ITV show, Clive James on Television, in which he showcased unusual and amusing television programmes from around the world. He has published three volumes of his TV reviews: Visions Before Midnight, The Crystal Bucket and Glued to the Box. Clive's most famous works form a three-part autobiography; Unreliable Memoirs, Falling Towards England, and May Week was in June. Clive is married to Prue Shaw, and they have two daughters, Claerwen and Lucinda.
