Jazz Band : Martinique Jazz Band
The exciting Martinique Jazz Band, from the Midlands, have been entertaining audiences for over 25 years in England, Germany and in the home of Jazz, New Orleans.
And it was in New Orleans that Honorary Citizenship was bestowed on the band by the Mayor of that city at a ceremony in May 1996, in recognition of the consistently high standard of jazz music with which the band had performed over a number of visits there during the nineties.
Their first tour to Germany took place in 1995 and included the first of five annual visits to a gig at the Saegewerk Jazz Club. Many top professionals have enjoyed playing with the band including Humphrey Lyttelton, Ray Foxley, Campbell Burnap, Monty Sunshine and of course Kenny Ball who has performed with this Jazz band every year for ten years.
